White Wedding

Confession: I love event planning, and a wedding is the biggest event of most women's lives. As such, I have been obsessed with wedding planning for as long as I can remember. Not necessarily my own (in fact, hopefully not my own, because I have design plans for multiple and hope to only marry once, myself), but the wedding of anyone who asks for--or simply receives--my advice.

For a while I considered a career as a wedding planner, but in the end, I want to do more with my life; and besides, wedding planning would never hold up in a bad economy. Instead, I regularly watch "My Fair Wedding with David Tutera" and "Say Yes to the Dress," wander through theknot.com (for full access to pictures, you have to create an account, which requires a wedding date...my wedding was 194 days ago, in case you were wondering), and have created a wedding scrapbook. I organize my scrapbook by color, then by decor, cake, and flowers. Tonight I came across some new pictures that have now determined my newest wedding design obsession: simple, white decor! Sounds crazy, but my favorites fall into the categories of beach and candles--day and night, if you will.

Here are the beach pictures that made me fall in love:

They're just so pure, crisp, and bright. They immediately make me feel happy, and of course the corresponding seaside ceremony would really be heaven. I love how they incorporated some net, but didn't make them too bulky. They're still delicate and light-colored, so the clean feel and design is maintained. Plus, the light green accent color creates the perfect calm feeling. I think I've found my new personal wedding plan.

For a slightly different yet still charming direction, these candle-themed pictures really caught my eye:

The left picture gets a rustic feel from the mantle, and paired with the glow of the candles, it all feels very warm and inviting. The ladder picture, on the other hand, is very charming and even a little quirky, which is why I love it so much, maybe even more than the fireplace candles.

They're all just so cute that I doubt I'll ever be able to decide what to do for my wedding! Which is why I'd love to still do some sort of event planning in my future and be able to use these beautiful ideas, but in a different setting. These design ideas don't have to be for weddings, they can be altered, or pieces can be used, for almost any event. So I'm going to keep my theknot.com account, because one day I'll have these great decorating ideas and when people ask me where I got them, I can say, my wedding scrapbook!

Urban Outfitters Sighting of the Week

I stayed in this New Year's Eve, which often turns out to be way more fun than trying to make a big night out of things, anyway. This year it involved a friend from high school, plenty of junk food, and a revolving cue of the various New Year's Eve TV presentations. One of these, classic Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year'a Eve, featured multiple performers after the ball-drop, including Natasha Bedingfield. A few lines into her song, I noticed that both of her backup singers were wearing matching Urban Outfitters dresses!

More specifically, it was the Ecote Ladies Dancing Dress, which is now sold out online (likely a very popular NYE dress), but I believe it is $98, and it's definitely still available in stores. It was my favorite of Urban's 12 Days of Dresses promotion, so I'm happy that it got its 15 minutes of fame on Dick Clark's Rockin' NYE.

5 Things to Walk Away With from Lauren Conrad's book, Style

1. Multiple plain black and white t shirts form an essential base for your wardrobe
2. There is a lot that goes into buying and maintaining a pair of jeans (pocket placement, DIY distressing, who to pay for hole repair, hemming, etc)
3. Buying vintage is a great way to be original and save money
4. Everyone should have a good tailor, and
5. Nothing in Lauren Conrad's closet is actually reasonably priced
